Special stock items can be particularly attractive for commercial users if the existing technical specifications match the project requirements and there is no need for a particular variant to remain available in the long term. This allows, for example, rollouts, workplace cabling, service stocks or temporary installations to be implemented cost-effectively.

The DINIC Cat 6 special stock items currently on offer are not unshielded, basic cables. They combine solid copper conductors, PiMF/S/FTP shielding, an LSZH jacket and moulded RJ45 connectors.

‘Special stock’ does not automatically imply lower technical quality:
The technical specifications of the specific item are what matter. The special price is due, for example, to remaining stock, product range rationalisation or limited batches – not solely to the technical design of the cable.

Colour-coding in the network – making good use of special stock

Different patch cable colours can significantly improve clarity in professional network environments. Colours can, for example, be assigned to specific VLANs, departments, device types, network segments, security zones or functions.

The LAN special stock items currently include various colour variants. However, the colours and lengths available always depend on the remaining stock on hand.

PiMF/S/FTP – shielded Cat 6 patch cables

In the current special offers, the twisted pairs are individually shielded with metal foil. The cable also features an overall shield. This reduces electromagnetic interference and crosstalk between the twisted pairs.

Check available stock before undertaking major projects:
Special items may be sold out at any time and will not necessarily be restocked once sold out. If a specific cable length, colour or type is to be standardised in the long term, the standard LAN range is the more predictable choice.

Cat 6, Cat 7 or Cat 8 – choose the right performance

A low special offer price should not be the sole selection criterion. The decisive factor is, first and foremost, the required data rate and network infrastructure.

The current special offers are Cat 6 cables up to 250 MHz. For high-performance 10-gigabit networks or particularly short high-speed connections, higher-specification product groups may be more suitable.

LAN clearance items and PoE

Whether a network patch cable can be used for Power over Ethernet should not be determined solely by the Cat category, the shielding or the conductor cross-section.

For PoE applications, the technical specifications and the specific approval status of the relevant product are decisive. In particular, for higher PoE power levels, the conductor cross-section, cable length, connectors, bundling and heat generation should be taken into account.

What does ‘LAN clearance stock’ mean?

LAN clearance items are network products from limited remaining stock, special batches or clearance sales. The number of items available is therefore limited, and subsequent delivery of the same variant cannot be guaranteed.

Are clearance items technically inferior to standard patch cables?

Not necessarily. It depends on the technical specifications of the specific product. The DINIC Cat 6 clearance items currently on offer, for example, feature solid copper conductors, PiMF/S/FTP shielding and an LSZH jacket.

What Cat category do the current LAN clearance items fall into?
