Note on 2-pole plugs: At first glance, the European Type C version and the 2-pole Swiss mains plug look very similar. However, for professional applications, mass-produced equipment or requirements with CH, SEV or Swiss specifications, the specific Swiss version intended for this purpose should be selected.

An IEC extension cable is not connected directly to a Swiss wall socket. It uses standardised IEC connectors and can be used, for example, between PDUs, UPSs, power distribution units and end devices.

TYPE C / CH A minor visual difference – take a closer look at the specifications

At first glance, the European Type C and the Swiss 2-pin versions of two-pin power cables appear very similar. However, one should not conclude from this that both versions are automatically identical in terms of technical specifications and approvals.

For simple, suitable devices, a European 2-pin version may be a practical option. However, if a tender, mass production order or customer specification expressly requires ‘Switzerland’, ‘CH’, ‘SEV’ or ‘SN 441011’, a Swiss version specifically designed for this purpose should be used. For devices with a protective earth conductor, a suitable 3-pole Type J version is required.
