Which APC adapter is suitable for your fibre-optic connection?
When making your selection, consider whether it is an LC or SC connector, whether it has an APC polish, and whether it is a plug or a socket. A socket accommodates the corresponding cable plug. An adapter with an SC/APC plug is inserted directly into a suitable SC/APC socket. All models offered here are designed for single-mode connections using a single fibre.
LC/APC to LC/APC: Extending cables
The LC/APC female-to-female coupler connects two pre-terminated cables with LC/APC plugs. It is suitable for single-mode links using OS1/OS2 fibres.

LC/APC female to SC/APC male
This fibre-optic adapter in a DINIC box accommodates an LC/APC cable connector and is connected directly to a suitable SC/APC socket via its SC/APC connector.
This allows an existing LC/APC cable to be used on an SC/APC interface. Alternatively, a neutral version is available.
LC/APC socket to SC/APC socket
The LC/APC–SC/APC hybrid coupler connects one end of a cable fitted with an LC/APC connector to the other end fitted with an SC/APC connector.
The female-to-female version connects two existing single-mode patch cables without the need for splicing. Also available in a DINIC box with Euro holes.

What does APC mean in the context of fibre-optic connectors?
APC stands for Angled Physical Contact. The end face of the connector is usually ground at an angle of 8°. This angle reduces back reflections within the fibre core. APC connector systems are often marked in green. The clear connection designation on the product or device remains the decisive factor.
Can I connect APC and UPC together?
APC and UPC connectors must not be mated directly with one another. The different end faces do not fit together; this can result in high signal loss and damage. Can I extend my fibre-optic cable using a coupler?
Yes, provided the connector type, polish and fibre type are compatible. For two cable ends with LC/APC connectors, use an LC/APC female-to-female coupler. You can find suitable patch cables under ‘Fibre-optic cables: LC/APC to LC/APC’. Take any additional connectors into account when planning for attenuation and keep the connector end faces clean.
When is an LC/APC-to-SC/APC cable a good choice?
If the two end points are already fixed and require different connectors, a fibre-optic cable with LC/APC and SC/APC connectors can establish a direct connection. An adapter is particularly useful when existing cables are to be reused or existing patch points need to be adapted.
Which adapter is suitable for fibre optic routers, ONTs or fibre optic sockets?
Check the specific optical interface: LC/APC or SC/APC, as well as the existing plug or socket. Also take into account the space required for the adapter and cable. A passive adapter changes the connector type; the router, optical module and network operator connection must still be compatible with one another. What does ‘single-mode simplex’ mean?
‘Single-mode’ refers to the intended fibre type. With these adaptors, ‘simplex’ means that a single fibre connection is coupled.
