Choosing an aerial cable: connector, length and shielding
To connect the aerial socket to the television or set-top box, the connector type and signal path must be compatible. IEC coaxial cables are typically used for cable TV and terrestrial reception. You should then select the required length and the appropriate cable type.

What does 120 dB mean for an aerial cable?
This specification describes the shielding against electromagnetic interference and radiation. It refers neither to signal amplification nor to the attenuation of the useful signal along the cable.
The white 120 dB cables in the DINIC Box combine two foil shields and two braided shields. When making a selection, the complete assembly – including plugs, connectors and junction boxes – must be taken into account. The specifications for the various series must be considered separately.
Matching IEC plugs and couplers correctly
The IEC plug has a centre pin, whilst the coupler has a matching socket contact. The connection is made by plugging the two parts together. The IEC cables compared here each have one plug and one coupler.
Check both connection ends before ordering. The designations ‘TV’, ‘Radio’ or ‘Receiver’ alone do not replace a comparison of the actual sockets and plugs present.
What length do I need – and can the aerial cable be extended?
Measure the actual cable route, including furniture, cable ducts and a small margin for connection. The white box versions are available up to 10 m. As the cable length increases, signal attenuation increases for the same cable type; a high shielding rating does not counteract this effect.
Plug-to-coupler cables can be used to extend compatible IEC cables. Plan for as few additional connectors as possible and avoid sharp bends or tension on the device sockets.
IEC or F-type connector: Which aerial cable is suitable?
F-connectors feature a screw-type connection and are commonly found on satellite components. For a mixed connection of this kind, there is a 2.5 m F-connector-to-coaxial-coupler adapter cable. For connections with F-connectors on both ends, use the SAT antenna cable range.
An adapter changes the connector type. The signal type, frequency range and requirements of the connected devices must still be compatible.
FM whip antenna for radios and hi-fi tuners
For FM receivers with a suitable antenna socket, the DINIC FM whip antenna offers a passive reception solution. It features a coaxial coupler, an approximately 1.75 m connection lead and two dipole arms, each approximately 0.80 m long.
The positioning and orientation of the dipoles affect reception. This model is an FM antenna and serves a different purpose to a connection cable for an aerial socket.
