Speaker cable
DINIC speaker cables and connectors for specialist retailers, hi-fi and service providers: Transparent CCA speaker cables connect suitable amplifier outputs to passive speakers. The two-core cables with 2 × 1.5 mm² are available in 10-, 25- or 50-metre rolls for cutting to length as required. Banana plugs, speaker plugs and couplers complete the range. Transparent 10-metre roll with CCA conductors and positive/negative markings for cutting to length. Gold-plated banana plug set with screw terminals and red or black colour-coded rings. Selecting speaker cables by material, length and connector type
To connect an amplifier to a passive loudspeaker, you need a cable whose cross-section, conductor material and connector type are suitable for the application. The DINIC range in this category includes transparent, two-core CCA cables with a cross-section of 2 × 1.5 mm², as well as accessories for assembling suitable speaker terminals.
Transparent CCA speaker cable
Flexible flat cable with two conductors, each 1.5 mm², positive/negative marking and external dimensions of approx. 3.1 × 6.2 mm. Supplied as a cable reel for cutting to length and terminating.
Choose 10 m, 25 m or 50 m depending on your total material requirements.
Banana plugs with screw terminals
The 4 mm banana plug set contains two gold-plated plugs: one with a red colour ring and one with a black colour ring. Stripped wires are secured via the screw terminal.
Suitable for compatible 4 mm banana sockets on audio equipment. Check the device’s connection specifications and the clamping range for the cable being used.
Speaker plugs and connectors
Black speaker plugs and black speaker connectors feature a screw-on plastic housing, screw terminals and kink protection.
Two of each in the DINIC box. According to the product specifications, these versions are intended for simple hobby and DIY applications. The plug shape, mating connector and conductor housing must fit together.
Which roll length suits your needs?
| Reel length | Item number | Planning material requirements |
|---|---|---|
| 10-metre speaker cable | MM-LK1-10 | For individual connection cables or small quantities of cut-to-length lengths. |
| 25-metre speaker cable | MM-LK1-25 | For several individually cut-to-length speaker cables. |
| 50-metre speaker cable | MM-LK1-50 | As a stock of material for repeated assembly and multiple connection runs. |
The reel length indicates the quantity of cable supplied. It is not a general recommendation for the distance between the amplifier and the loudspeaker. Add up the required individual runs and allow for an appropriate connection reserve.
What does CCA mean in relation to speaker cables?
CCA stands for Copper Clad Aluminium. For the same conductor cross-section, CCA has a higher electrical resistance than copper. You should therefore take into account not only the specification 2 × 1.5 mm² but also the conductor material, the length of the individual connection runs and the speaker impedance.
Is a cross-section of 2 × 1.5 mm² sufficient?
This depends on the cable length, speaker impedance, power transmitted and the acceptable line losses. The specification refers to two conductors, each with a cross-sectional area of 1.5 mm². Check the specifications of the amplifier and speakers. For longer cable runs or higher power requirements, the cable sizing should be checked specifically.
For what type of installation are these speaker cables intended?
The CCA rolls on offer are intended for connections close to the equipment, as well as for mobile and temporary speaker set-ups. According to the product specifications, they are not approved for permanent installation in buildings. Please bear this limitation in mind when selecting cables for your project.
How many banana plugs are required?
One set contains two individual plugs for the positive and negative terminals at one end of a cable. If a two-core speaker cable is to be fitted with banana plugs at both ends, you will need four plugs, or two sets. For two speaker cables terminated in this way, you will need four sets. This requires suitable 4 mm sockets on all the connectors used.
Speaker cable or audio signal cable?
A speaker cable connects the speaker output of an amplifier to a passive speaker. For the signal connection between a source device and an amplifier, or to the line input of an active speaker, choose RCA cables, RCA-to-jack cables or jack connection cables to match the device sockets. You can find further basics in the Cable Glossary and B2B Guide.
