DINIC DisplayPort cables connect PCs, graphics cards and docking stations to monitors and presentation displays. The range includes DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cables, as well as USB-C-to-DisplayPort and DisplayPort-to-HDMI cables. Selected DP 1.4 models support up to 8K at 60 Hz; compatible USB-C and HDMI versions support up to 4K at 60 Hz – depending on the cable model and connected devices.

Which DisplayPort cable is compatible with your monitor?
First, check the video output on your computer or docking station and the input on your monitor. A standard DP cable connects two DisplayPort ports. For USB-C outputs or HDMI displays, suitable adapter cables are available. The table shows three specific connection solutions from the DINIC range.

What to look for when choosing a cable
1. Check the resolution and Hz specification
Select according to the desired display mode, such as 3840 × 2160 pixels at 60 Hz or 120 Hz. ‘4K’ on its own does not specify a refresh rate. The specifications of the specific cable, as well as the capabilities of the graphics card, dock and monitor, are decisive.
2. Plan the right length
Measure the actual cable route, including the monitor arm, desk grommet and slack for movement. Our range includes various lengths to choose from, including 5-metre DisplayPort cables. Check the performance specifications for the exact model and length you have chosen.
3. Matching connectors and orientation
Standard DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort and USB-C are different connector types. With adapter cables, the transmission direction must also be correct. The DP-to-HDMI cables shown here connect a DisplayPort output to an HDMI input.
4. Choose the right version for your application
Pay attention to the connector design, kink protection and, where applicable, a locking mechanism on the DisplayPort connector. Depending on the item, DINIC boxes or polybags are available. Choose the packaging to suit product presentation, storage or distribution during installations.
Frequently asked questions about DisplayPort cables
What do I need for 8K at 60 Hz via DisplayPort?
A cable specified for this purpose, as well as a source and a display that support the desired 8K mode. With DisplayPort 1.4, Display Stream Compression (DSC) or reduced colour resolution may be required, depending on the colour depth and colour format. If DSC is used, both the source and the display must support this compression. The cable alone does not enable a higher display mode.
Does USB-C to DisplayPort work on any USB-C port?
No. The USB-C to DisplayPort cable shown here requires DisplayPort Alt Mode on the source device. The USB-C connector shape and a USB data rate alone do not indicate anything about video output. You should therefore check the device specifications of your laptop, PC or tablet.
Can I also use a DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable for HDMI-to-DisplayPort?
No. The version shown here only works from DisplayPort to HDMI. As a passive cable, it requires a suitable dual-mode DisplayPort source (DP++). To connect an HDMI output to a DisplayPort monitor, you will need an active converter specifically designed for this reverse connection.
Are DisplayPort 1.4 cables compatible with older DisplayPort ports?
For a standard DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort connection, suitable DP 1.4 cables can also be used with older DisplayPort ports. The actual usable resolution, refresh rate and other features depend on the capabilities of the entire connection. A new cable does not automatically extend the functionality of older devices.
Do DisplayPort cables also transmit audio?
Yes, DisplayPort can transmit both video and audio simultaneously. This requires that both the source and the connected output device support the audio function. If no sound is being output, check the selected audio device in the operating system as well as the monitor’s audio settings.
