Which USB-C to Micro-B cable do you need?

First, check the socket on your device: for the DINIC cables compared here, you’ll need USB-C on the computer or charger end and Micro-USB Type B 2.0 on the device end. Then choose the length and the right packaging for your needs.

The difference between Micro-B 2.0 and Micro-B 3.0

Micro-B 2.0 features the narrow connector used on many older mobile devices and accessories. The cables compared here transfer data at USB 2.0 speeds of up to 480 Mbit/s.

You can recognise Micro-B 3.0 by its wider, two-part connector design, as found on many external hard drives. For a SuperSpeed connection with these devices, choose a USB-C to Micro-B 3.0 cable with speeds of up to 5 Gbit/s.

Using existing devices with a USB-C PC

With the right cable, Micro-USB devices can be connected directly to a USB-C data port. Typical tasks include data synchronisation, device testing or maintenance. The device must support the required USB function; drivers or manufacturer software may be required.

For a computer with USB-A, you’ll find suitable alternatives under Micro-USB cables and accessories.

Charging Micro-USB devices via USB-C

The cables support charging via a suitable USB-C power source. The actual charging power available depends on the charger, cable and device. A high rated power output from the power supply does not mean that a Micro-USB device will draw this full power.

You can find suitable power sources under ‘USB charging adaptors’. Please note the charging requirements of the respective device.

Polybag or box for retail and device distribution

Choose the packaging to suit your storage, service facilities or product presentation. The DINIC box with Euro-hole is suitable for hanging displays in specialist retail outlets. Further information is available in the overview of packaging types.

For devices with different connectors, the 3-in-1 data and charging cable with Micro-USB, USB-C and Lightning is also available. This model connects to a USB-A port on the source device.

Frequently asked questions about USB-C to Micro-USB cables

Does the USB-C connector automatically enable USB 3.0 speeds?
USB-C refers to the connector shape. The Micro-B 2.0 cables compared here operate at USB 2.0 data transfer speeds. Even when connected to a faster USB-C port, the connection remains limited to this speed class.

Is Micro-USB the same as Mini-USB?
Micro-USB and Mini-USB have different connector shapes. Check the device’s socket or the user manual before ordering a replacement cable.

Why is the device charging without transferring data?
Check whether the USB-C port you are using supports data transfer. If necessary, enable file transfer or the appropriate USB mode on the device and check for any required drivers. A charger alone does not establish a data connection to the computer.
