USB 3.0 cables – Type A to B & USB-A extension cables
DINIC Connectivity Solutions for specialist retailers, system integrators and businesses
USB 3.0 cables and extension cables for fast data connections
Connect USB 3.0 peripherals to your computer or make a USB-A port more accessible. At MAG, you’ll find USB-A-to-USB-B cables in lengths of 0.20 m, 1 m, 2 m and 3 m, as well as 2 m USB-A extension cables.
USB 3.0 supports a data rate of up to 5 Gbit/s. Choose according to connector type, cable length and packaging. To achieve the specified speed, both the computer and the peripheral device must also support USB 3.0.

Which USB 3.0 cable is right for your application?
A connection cable with USB-A and USB-B plugs connects the computer to a suitable device port. An extension cable, on the other hand, has a USB-A plug and a USB-A socket for the existing connection cable.
USB-A to USB-B: Length to suit the device configuration
The following black DINIC connection cables have gold-plated contacts and are supplied in a DINIC polybag:
- USB 3.0 A-to-B cable, 0.20 m, for directly adjacent ports. Item no.: USB3-02.
- USB 3.0 A to B cable, 1 m, for short distances at the workstation or test bench. Item no.: USB3-1.
- USB 3.0 cable A to B, 2 m, for greater flexibility when setting up equipment. Item: USB3-2.
- USB 3.0 cable, A to B, 3 m, for correspondingly longer cable runs. Item: USB3-3.
The end device requires a USB 3.0 Type B socket. Check this, particularly for printers, scanners, hubs and docking stations, by referring to the device documentation or the connection diagram.
USB-A extension cable for more accessible connections
The black DINIC USB 3.0 extension cable, 2 m long, features a USB-A plug and a USB-A socket. It has gold-plated contacts and is supplied in a DINIC polybag. Item: USB3-2V.
Plan the extension cable and the existing device cable together. Additional cable length and connectors may affect signal quality and power supply. Check the entire connection with the intended peripheral device.
Frequently asked questions about USB 3.0 cables
Will a USB 3.0 Type B plug fit into a USB 2.0 Type B socket?
No. Due to its additional contacts, the USB 3.0 Type B plug requires a socket of the corresponding shape. For a printer with a USB 2.0 Type B port, choose a suitable USB 2.0 A-to-B cable.
Is 5 Gbit/s always achieved?
5 Gbit/s refers to the maximum signal rate of USB 3.0. The actual usable data transfer rate is lower than this and depends, amongst other things, on the computer, the device, other USB components and the application. A USB 3.0 cable on its own will not speed up a USB 2.0 connection.
Can I use several USB extension cables in series?
Where possible, plan for a direct connection of the required length. Multiple extension cables increase the total length and the number of connectors. This does not guarantee a reliable USB 3.0 connection. For longer distances, the entire connection must be suitably configured.
What colours and packaging options are available?
This category includes black and white versions. For selected 2-metre cables and extension leads, DINIC boxes are also available. Check the colour and packaging details for each individual item. A box with a Euro-hole is suitable for hanging product displays.
