IEC TV cable accessories

Antenna cable accessories: IEC plugs, connectors and adaptors

With DINIC accessories, you can connect, extend and terminate TV and radio coaxial cables. Choose from IEC plugs and couplers, adaptors between IEC and F-type connectors, angle adaptors and splitters. Antenna amplifiers and shield current filters round off the range for specialist retailers, installation and service providers.

Terminating coaxial cables

IEC metal connectors and metal couplers with screw terminals for cables with an outer diameter of 4.5–7.5 mm.

Limited space behind the TV

The 90° IEC angle adapter routes an existing connection cable without having to refit the plug.

Connecting two devices

Suitable splitters for connecting two TV sets or two radio sets to a single aerial socket.

Do you need a complete connection cable? Here you’ll find ready-made IEC aerial cables for TV and radio.

Which accessories are compatible with my aerial cable?

The key factors are the connectors at both ends, the required function and the available space. An IEC plug has a centre pin, whilst an IEC socket has a female contact. F-connectors are screw-type. You should therefore check the actual connectors on the cable, socket and device.

Required connectors on the adapter Suitable DINIC version
IEC socket to IEC socket IEC double socket for connecting two cable ends with IEC plugs.
IEC plug to IEC plug Coaxial dual plug for connecting two cable ends with an IEC coupler.
F-connector to IEC socket All-metal F-plug to coaxial socket adapter, sold individually in a DINIC box.
IEC plug to F socket All-metal IEC plug to F-socket adapter, sold individually in a DINIC box.
IEC socket to F socket Coaxial connector to F-socket for compatible IEC and F-plugs.
IEC plug to F plug All-metal adaptor in a polybag of 10 for installation and servicing requirements.

An IEC/F adapter adapts the connector. It does not convert a satellite signal to cable TV or DVB-T2. The signal type, frequency range and, where applicable, the required DC voltage pass must be compatible with the entire connection.

Angle adapter or angled plug?

The 90° metal angle adapter is plugged between existing IEC sockets. It is suitable for space-saving cable routing behind televisions or furniture.

Angled plugs and angled couplers with screw fastenings, on the other hand, are fitted directly to the cable. Both are designed for coaxial cables with an outer diameter of 4.5–7.5 mm.

Fitting an aerial connector to a coaxial cable

The straight metal IEC plug and the corresponding metal coupler with screw connection are suitable for new cable terminations or for replacing damaged plugs.

Check the cable diameter (4.5–7.5 mm) and the cable construction. During installation, the shielding braid and inner conductor must not short-circuit; the contacts and strain relief must be compatible with the connector. Suitable cables can be found amongst the coaxial cables sold on reels.

How can two televisions be connected to an aerial socket?

The TV splitter, featuring two IEC plugs and one IEC socket, distributes a suitable aerial signal to two TV feed lines. The radio version has two sockets and one plug. Both models are rated for 5–1000 MHz.

Passive distribution causes signal loss. Whether the reception on both devices is sufficient depends, amongst other things, on the input level, the cable runs and the devices themselves. These splitters are not a substitute for a distribution system designed for satellite reception.

When is an aerial amplifier advisable?

If line or distribution losses need to be compensated for, a suitable active solution should be considered. The DINIC two-device aerial amplifier with 15 dB gain operates with an integrated 230 V power supply.

The choice depends on the signal level and the system configuration. An amplifier does not rectify faulty connections; therefore, if you experience reception problems, check the cables, contacts and connection box first.

What can be done about humming caused by the antenna connection?

In the case of a ground loop, the DINIC sheath current filter for 5–1000 MHz can help. The galvanic isolator breaks the earth connection in the relevant TV/radio signal path and requires no active power supply.

The filter is not a signal amplifier. Its frequency range and galvanic isolation must be suitable for the application; specifically suitable components are required for satellite IF or lines with remote feeding.
