Securing power cables against accidental disconnection – which solution is right for you?

SecureSleeve, IEC-LOCK and retaining clips – various options for securing IEC power cables.

A power cable that is accidentally pulled out can immediately cut off the power supply to servers, network components, PDUs, UPS systems or industrial PCs. Particularly in densely cabled racks, plant rooms and industrial facilities, tension on the cable, maintenance work, movement or vibrations can place additional strain on an IEC connector.

For IEC 60320 power connections, there are various options available to make accidental disconnection more difficult or to mechanically secure the connection. Which option is most suitable depends, amongst other things, on the connector used, the application and whether an existing power cable is to be reused.

• SecureSleeve slip-on sleeves: are fitted onto existing IEC connectors and increase the holding force of the connection. Available for C13, C14, C19 and C20.
• IEC-LOCK connectors: feature an integrated mechanical locking mechanism and secure the connection against accidental disconnection.
• Retaining clips and cable holders: can mechanically secure the connected plug directly to the appliance, power distribution unit or PDU.
• Coloured SecureSleeves: in addition to providing extra retention force, these can also be used to label and distinguish between circuits, devices or connections.

The SecureSleeve slip-on sleeves are particularly useful when existing power cables are to be reused. The appropriate version is selected to match the IEC connector – for the widely used C13/C14 connections as well as for C19/C20.

New at MAG: Thailand power cable Type O with TIS 166-2549 approval

DINIC mains connection cable for Thailand with Type O plug, IEC C13 socket and TIS 166-2549 approval.

MAG GmbH is now expanding its range of international power cables to include a DINIC power cable for Thailand. This version combines the Thai Type O mains plug with an IEC 60320-C13 low-voltage connector.

A key feature is the specified Thai approval in accordance with TIS 166-2549. To the best of our knowledge, MAG is therefore one of the few suppliers in the German-speaking B2B market to offer a Thailand Type O mains cable to IEC C13 with this approval.
