International power adaptor
With international power adaptors and travel adaptors from DINIC, you can connect suitable appliance plugs to the socket system of the respective destination country. This category offers specialist retailers, buyers and service providers country-specific adaptors for numerous markets – including the UK, the USA, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, Australia and China.
Important: A plug adapter does not convert either voltage or mains frequency. The appliance and the mains supply must be electrically compatible. For permanent appliance connections and bulk projects, we recommend checking our country-specific power cables.
First, select the appropriate country category and then compare the technical specifications of the products.

Choosing the right international power adaptor
A country-specific adapter provides a connection between different plug systems. When purchasing one, it is therefore important to consider the exact combination of the mains plug and the appliance socket. The country designation alone is not sufficient for making a selection: depending on the product, the connection, earth conductor routing, load capacity and design may vary.
Four points to check before ordering
- Determine the destination country and plug orientation: Which plug needs to fit into which socket? An adapter designed for a European appliance plug in a foreign socket is not automatically suitable for the reverse connection.
- Determine the appliance connection precisely: Euro plugs, earthed plugs and IEC appliance connectors require different sockets. In the US range, for example, you will find variants with earthed, Euro, C7 or C13 sockets. The specific connection description is decisive.
- Check the electrical specifications: Check the device’s permissible input voltage and frequency range, as well as the rated values of the adapter and the supply cable. The permissible current of the entire connection is determined by the weakest link; any existing fuse must also be taken into account.
- Take the protective earth conductor and operating conditions into account: Devices requiring a protective earth conductor need a continuous, suitable protective earth connection. A suitable plug type does not replace this check. Also note the manufacturer’s instructions regarding the intended use.
Travel adaptor, plug-in UK adaptor or mains cable?
Plug-on travel adaptors may be suitable for temporary connections, such as on business trips or during demonstrations. This is provided that the specific model is approved or intended for the device, mains supply and intended use.
Mountable UK mains adaptors enclose a suitable existing plug and are secured with screws, depending on the model. The mounting, housing and fuse must be suitable for the application. The fact that it is secured with screws alone does not guarantee its suitability as a conversion plug for the sale of appliances. Compare the mountable UK mains adapters using the relevant product specifications.
Country-specific power cables are usually the most practical solution for regular operation where the device’s power lead is interchangeable, for international equipment and for bulk orders. They eliminate the need for an additional adapter connection. Our guide to power cables and adapters offers further assistance with selection.
Procurement for specialist retailers and repeat orders
For repeat orders, please note the destination country, plug combination, electrical specifications and item number. For resale, the packaging is also relevant: depending on the item, versions without retail packaging or in a DINIC retail box are available. Please check the packaging and technical documentation for each selected product.
Frequently asked questions about international power adaptors
Can I use an adapter to run a 230 V appliance on 120 V?
Only if the manufacturer states that the appliance is suitable for this mains voltage and the applicable frequency. A simple plug adapter does not convert the voltage. Therefore, an adapter is not sufficient for an appliance designed exclusively for 230 V.
Will the same adapter fit in all countries with similar sockets?
This cannot be deduced from the external similarity alone. Check the specified countries of use, the exact plug design and the electrical specifications of the item. Different plug systems may also exist within a single country.
Is every mountable UK adapter suitable for export appliances?
No. The specific design, the correct fit for the appliance plug, the safety features and the necessary certifications for the target market are crucial. The term ‘mountable’ alone is not sufficient proof of this.
Enquire about country adaptors to suit your needs
Do you need help with your selection or are you planning to order larger quantities? Please let us know the destination country, the existing appliance plug, the required socket, voltage, current requirement, earth conductor requirements, quantity and desired delivery date. A product reference number or a photo of the connection will help us to identify the correct item.
