CEE 7/7 to C15 power cable

C15 power cables for equipment with elevated temperature requirements at the connection point

DINIC power cables connecting CEE 7/7 to IEC 60320 C15 link a suitable earthed socket to equipment with a C16 input. They are suitable for appropriately rated IT, network and technical equipment where a hot-apparatus connection is required. A range of cable lengths is available for procurement, system integration and service.

  • Heat-resistant cable: H05V2V2-F with 3 × 1.0 mm² including protective conductor.
  • Space-saving mains end: CEE-7/7 earthed plug, 90° angled.
  • Suitable packaging: Bulk versions, and the 1.80 m variant is also available in a DINIC box with Euro-hole.

The key factors are the appliance connection, electrical rating and temperature requirements. Our comparison of C13, C15 and C19 provides guidance on selection.

Choosing the right CEE-7/7-to-C15 power cable

A C15 power cable for active equipment is selected based on the existing equipment connection and the technical requirements. Simply classifying a device as a server, network component or laboratory instrument is not sufficient for this purpose. Check the appliance’s input, the manufacturer’s specifications and the required electrical and thermal characteristics of the connection cable.

C15 on the cable, C16 on the device

The C15 power cable connector forms the correct plug connection with the C16 device input. It features a protective earth contact and an additional recess for the mechanical coding of the C16 connection.

Interpreting temperature specifications correctly

The C15/C16 connector class is designed for a pin temperature of up to 120 °C. This value refers to the pin base at the device input. It does not constitute a blanket approval for an ambient temperature or cable sheath temperature of 120 °C.

Which cable length is suitable for your application?

DINIC C15 power cable in black
Length Selection based on routing method Packaging
0.70 m For short distances between the socket and the appliance. Bulk
1.80 m For appliances with a socket in the immediate vicinity. Bulk or DINIC box with Euro hole
3.00 m For longer cable runs along furniture or equipment installations. Bulk
5.00 m For longer distances and cable routes planned accordingly. Bulk

Measure the actual route, including a suitable length of cable for connection. When using a 90° mains plug, check the direction of the lead and the space available at adjacent sockets. The product illustration will help you check that it fits your installation situation.

Take into account the cable, load capacity and packaging

The versions on offer use an H05V2V2-F cable with three cores, each with a cross-sectional area of 1.0 mm². The protective conductor is an integral part of the connection cable. The permissible load is determined by the rated values of the complete cable and the requirements of the appliance. The necessary test marks and approvals must be checked against the specific product.

Bulk versions are suitable for direct use in equipment fitting, servicing and project installations. The 1.80-m version in a DINIC box with Euro-holes offers specialist retailers an individually packaged option for hanging product displays.

Frequently asked questions about C15 power cables

Does a C15 plug also fit a C14 appliance socket?

Yes, the design also allows it to be used with C14. The prerequisite is that the cable’s technical specifications are suitable for the application. Conversely, a C13 connector does not fit a C16 appliance socket due to the mechanical coding.

Does a C15 cable automatically have a higher current-carrying capacity than a C13 cable?

No. The main difference lies in the higher permissible temperature at the connector. The designation ‘C15’ does not imply a higher current-carrying capacity. The rated values of the complete connection cable are the decisive factor.

What cable do I need for an IEC output on a PDU or UPS?

In this case, the mains plug depends on the existing IEC output. You can find suitable combinations with a C15 coupler under Extension leads for appliances. The CEE-7/7 versions offered here are designed for use with a suitable earth-connected socket.
