CEE 7/7 to C5 power cable

DINIC power cable, CEE 7/7 to C5, for professional equipment connections

CEE 7/7 to IEC 60320 C5 power cables connect a safety-earthed socket to devices or power supplies that have a C6 input. The three-pin C5 connector is also known as a cloverleaf or Mickey Mouse connector. Typical applications include laptop power adaptors and compatible IT and AV equipment in offices, meeting rooms and training areas.

  • Available lengths: 1 m, 1.80 m, 3 m or 5 m, depending on the version.
  • Targeted cable routing: straight or angled C5 connectors for different space requirements.
  • Coordinated appearance: black variants as well as white versions with a length of 1.80 m.
  • For project requirements and specialist retailers: bulk versions and selected items in the DINIC Box with Euro-hole.

Select the length, plug type and packaging to suit your requirements. Further device connectors can be found in the overview of national mains cables.

CEE 7/7 to C5: the right choice for the workplace, service centres and specialist retailers

When purchasing cloverleaf power cables, it is important to consider not only the correct connector but also the installation situation and the intended use. A suitable cable length makes cable routing at the workplace easier. An angled connector can be useful where space around the power supply is limited. For resale, the packaging also plays a role.

What lengths and designs are available?

Versions of the DINIC CEE 7/7 to C5 power cables
Version Cable lengths Selection guide
Black, straight C5 connector 1 m, 1.80 m, 3 m and 5 m For connecting devices where there is sufficient space in the direction of connection.
Black, C5 angled connector 1.80 m, 3 m and 5 m For angled cable routing directly at the device input.
White, straight C5 connector 1.80 m For well-lit working environments and colour-coordinated cabling.

Please check the product images for angled versions: the direction of the cable outlet must match the position of the C6 input and the surrounding housing. Also take into account the design of the mains plug, particularly behind furniture or on densely populated power strips.

Assess cable construction and electrical suitability

The cables offered here have a conductor cross-section of 3 × 0.75 mm². The tested straight and angled versions use an H05VV-F cable with a PVC sheath. For the specific application, the electrical rating, operating conditions and approved test marks of the respective item are also decisive.

Compare this information with the requirements of the equipment or power supply manufacturer. The three-pin C5 connector includes a protective earth conductor. A suitable plug type alone therefore does not replace the need to check the entire connection cable and its electrical suitability.

Select cable length and packaging as required

Measure the actual cable route from the socket to the power supply unit, including the intended cable routing. Allow sufficient slack so that the cable can be laid without putting any strain on the connection. Unnecessary cable loops can be avoided by selecting an appropriate length.

Bulk versions are suitable for direct use in workplace projects, for servicing and for spare parts requirements. For product display in specialist shops, selected 1.80-metre variants in black and white are available in the DINIC Box with Euro-holes. For repeat orders, please specify the packaging option as well as the length and colour.

Frequently asked questions about C5 power cables

Does a C5 power cable fit every laptop power supply?

The key factor is the power supply unit’s mains connection. A C5 plug fits an IEC 60320 C6 socket with a three-pin cloverleaf connector. Please check the connection and electrical requirements before ordering. The power cable connects the mains socket to the power supply unit; it does not replace either the power supply unit or its charging cable to the laptop.

Which cable is required for a UPS or power distribution unit?

If the power source has an IEC C13 output socket, a cable with a C14 plug and a C5 connector is suitable. You can find suitable versions under ‘C14-to-C5 IT cables’. The electrical specifications of the power source, cable and connected device must be compatible.

Which cable is suitable for devices to be used abroad?

Select the mains plug and the necessary approvals according to the destination country. For other plug systems, the overview of international mains cables by country is a good place to start. Also check whether the power supply unit is rated for the mains voltage and frequency at the location of use.
