⚠️ Latest information on BIS certification for India

As of 15 January 2026

Due to current political developments between India and China, the Indian government has suspended the renewal of BIS certificates for almost all Chinese manufacturers. This measure particularly affects the production of power cables and power supplies.

According to consistent information from the industry, no BIS certificates have been renewed for Chinese manufacturers in the last 18 months. As soon as a certificate expires, its status on the official BIS website is changed from "valid" to "suspended". This means that the factories affected are no longer considered actively certified, but rather as formerly approved manufacturers on standby.

Our manufacturing partner's BIS certificate expired on 18 July 2025.

Current status (15 January 2026): The factories in China have still not been recertified or had their certification renewed. This situation is unsatisfactory for us, but it is beyond our direct control, as the delays are caused by the relevant Indian authorities and affect all Chinese manufacturers equally.

What does this mean for our customers?

  • Products manufactured in China with an expired BIS certificate may no longer be officially imported separately into India.
  • If a power cord is exported as part of a complete device (e.g. dryer, PC), import may still be possible in some cases, depending on the specific situation and the local authorities.
  • All cables currently in stock were produced before the respective certificates expired and continue to comply with all previous safety requirements.

What we can do for you

We are in close contact with our manufacturing partners and are monitoring the situation very closely. Parallel to the pending renewal of BIS approvals for Chinese factories, we are continuing to work on alternative BIS certification in Vietnam.

As things stand at present, final certification of the factory in Vietnam is not expected until the second quarter of 2026 at the earliest. This means that we will probably not be able to start production until the third quarter of 2026 at the earliest. Our goal remains to keep the supply of BIS-compliant products as stable and predictable as possible for you.

For the transition period, we are examining various short-term options to continue to ensure a reliable supply of BIS-compliant power cables. Our aim is to avoid potential supply bottlenecks as far as possible and to give you the best possible planning security.

This page will be updated regularly. We will keep you informed here about new developments and available alternatives.
