⚠️ Latest information on BIS certification for India
As of: 30 March 2026
Important announcement
In connection with the planned interim solution via I-sheng, we will be presenting the first alternative products on our website in the coming days.
Data sheets, prices and estimated delivery times will be added gradually thereafter.
Due to the long-standing challenging conditions surrounding BIS certifications for Chinese manufacturers, the situation for power cables and power supplies produced in China remains restricted.
According to consistent information from the industry, numerous BIS certificates held by Chinese manufacturers have not been renewed in recent months. As soon as a certificate expires, its status on the official BIS website is changed from ‘valid’ to ‘suspended’. Affected factories are therefore no longer considered to be actively certified.
The BIS certificate of our previous manufacturing partner in China expired on 18 July 2025.
Current status (30 March 2026): The assessment for an alternative manufacturing solution in Vietnam has been completed. Nevertheless, BIS certification for Yung Li’s factory in Vietnam remains on hold for the time being. As things stand, the relevant authorities are still facing the previously known difficulties in issuing new certifications in this context. We are not satisfied with this development, but it is beyond our direct control, as the decisions are made by the relevant Indian authorities.
What does this mean for our customers?
- Products manufactured in China with an expired BIS certificate may no longer be officially imported into India separately.
- If a power cable is exported as part of a complete appliance (e.g. tumble dryer, PC), import may still be possible in individual cases – depending on the specific product and the decision of the local authorities.
- All cables currently in stock were produced before the respective certificates expired and continue to meet the previous safety requirements.
Current status regarding alternative BIS products from Vietnam
To ensure our long-term supply capability, we are working with our partner Yung Li on viable alternatives via Vietnam.
Yung Li has presented a solution for this via its Vietnamese partner I-sheng and the Vietnamese factory I-Li. According to current information, BIS-compliant products can be supplied from Vietnam in this way, even though BIS certification for Yung Li’s own Vietnamese factory remains on hold at present.
Depending on the version selected, plugs and cables will be sourced from I-sheng and further processed in Vietnam, or complete BIS power cables will be supplied by I-sheng via I-Li. Please note that the model designation, labelling and, where applicable, the appearance of these products may differ from the previous versions from China.
As soon as BIS certification is successfully granted for Yung Li’s factory in Vietnam, production under the I-Li brand is planned to resume, as things stand.
What we can do for you
We are in close contact with our manufacturing partners and are monitoring the situation very closely. At the same time, we are continuously exploring options to keep the supply of BIS-compliant power cables for our customers as stable and predictable as possible.
For the transitional period, we are evaluating various short-term options to avoid potential supply bottlenecks as far as possible and to provide you with the greatest possible planning certainty.
This page is updated regularly. We will keep you informed here about new developments and available alternatives.
