Product description

The DINIC HDMI-A 8K connector is a passive coupling adapter with two HDMI Type A sockets. It connects two HDMI cables with Type A plugs and is therefore suitable for extending existing HDMI cable runs as well as for patching, servicing and installation applications.

The connector is designed for HDMI 2.1 or Ultra High Speed HDMI with a maximum bandwidth of 48 Gbit/s. It supports resolutions up to 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, depending on the cables and devices used. HDCP 2.3, CEC 2.0, 3D, Dynamic HDR and VRR are supported. The connector operates bidirectionally and features gold-plated pins as well as a black and silver housing made of aluminium and PVC.

Compatibility

Suitable for connecting HDMI cables with HDMI Type A plugs. The connector can be used in HDMI set-ups with monitors, televisions, projectors, AV receivers, media players, graphics cards, as well as docking and KVM solutions. It is backwards compatible with previous HDMI generations. The actual resolution and data rate achievable depend on the total transmission distance and the connected devices.

Planning note

Passive adaptors and additional connectors may affect the signal integrity of an HDMI link. To utilise the maximum bandwidth, suitable Ultra High-Speed HDMI cables and a short total cable length are recommended. MAG specifies a total length of approximately 3 m as a guideline for this connector. For longer distances, active solutions or suitable transmission systems should be provided.

Selection and practical guidance

For applications with 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 120 Hz, the connected devices and HDMI cables must also support the required data rate. In existing installations, particular attention should be paid to the total cable length, including any additional connection points.
