Product description

The DINIC FireWire 6-pin to 4-pin cable is a pre-assembled connection cable for FireWire 400 connections in accordance with IEEE 1394a. It connects a 6-pin FireWire interface to devices equipped with a 4-pin FireWire connector. The cable is 1.00 m long and comes in a white finish.

Typical applications include connections between computers or workstations and corresponding DV/AV peripherals, audio interfaces and older devices with an IEEE 1394a interface. The 4-pin FireWire connector is usually designed without power lines, meaning that connected peripheral devices may need to be supplied with operating voltage separately.

Product status: End-of-Life (EOL) – no longer part of the standard range.

Compatibility

Suitable for devices with a FireWire 400/IEEE 1394a interface for connecting a 6-pin FireWire port to a 4-pin FireWire port. These include relevant DV/AV devices, audio interfaces and legacy peripherals with a 4-pin FireWire socket.

Note on power supply

4-pin FireWire connectors do not usually have the power supply lines found on the 6-pin version. A device connected via the 4-pin connector may therefore require its own power supply.
