Which RCA cable is right for your application?
RCA and Cinch refer to the same connector design. Different signals can be transmitted via these connectors. It is therefore crucial to check the labelling on the device sockets and the cable configuration: analogue stereo audio, digital S/PDIF or composite video each require the appropriate connection.
2x RCA: analogue stereo audio
Two separate wires carry the left and right audio channels. Standard connection cables are available in 2 m and 5 m lengths.
The HQ versions, available in 1.5 m and 2.5 m lengths, feature copper conductors, double shielding, a textile sheath and gold-plated contacts.
1x RCA: coaxial connection
According to the product specifications, the HQ coaxial cables in 1.5 m and 2.5 m lengths are designed for S/PDIF and composite video. They feature OFC inner conductors, double shielding and a textile sheath.
RG-59/U RCA cables, available in 2 m and 5 m lengths, are also available for analogue audio and composite video connections.
3x RCA: video and stereo audio
The AV cables, available in 2 m and 3 m lengths, combine composite video and stereo audio in a single cable.
Yellow indicates the video connection, white the left audio channel and red the right. Suitable for playback devices, recorders and displays with the corresponding analogue AV connections.

Y-adapters split a signal. Two active audio outputs must not be connected together using one. To combine different signals, you will need a suitable mixing circuit.
Which RCA cable do I need for a subwoofer?
A single RCA audio cable is usually used to connect an analogue subwoofer/LFE output to the corresponding input on an active subwoofer. Check the connection specifications for both devices. A digital S/PDIF output, despite having the same connector shape, carries a different signal and cannot be connected directly to an analogue subwoofer input.

- Cable length: Allow for the actual route the cable will take and a small margin for connection. Avoid unnecessary extensions and additional connection points.
- Jack socket: You can find RCA-to-jack cables for compatible analogue jack and RCA connections.
- Optical digital connection: Toslink cables are required here. A passive plug adapter does not convert optical and electrical signals into one another.
- SCART connection: When using SCART cables and adaptors, pay attention to the supported signal type and the input/output direction.
