This monitor adapter is used for mechanical and electrical adaptation from VGA to DVI-I (or DVI-I to VGA) if the source or target device provides the analogue VGA lines via a DVI-I interface. It is a passive adapter without signal conversion: The video signal must already be available as analogue RGB (VGA).

Important for planning: It is not possible to adapt DVI-D, as DVI-D does not carry any analogue lines. The adapter is therefore ideal for professional installations where existing VGA infrastructure (cable/monitor/KVM) is to be combined with DVI-I-capable devices.
