The DINIC DVI-I to VGA adapter is used for mechanical and electrical adaptation between a DVI-I interface and a VGA interface (DE-15). The design is passive, i.e. it requires a source device that can output the analogue VGA signal via DVI-I (e.g. DVI-I/DVI-A graphics outputs).

In professional environments, the adapter is particularly suitable for migrations and mixed installations in which existing VGA displays, KVM systems or projectors are to continue to be used. Use on DVI-D-only outputs is not possible as there are no analogue signal lines available.
