⚠️ Important notice regarding BIS certification for India
The availability of BIS-certified power cables for India remains severely restricted at present. This is primarily due to political tensions between India and China following the 2020 border conflict, as well as India’s desire to build up its own domestic production capacity. As a result, foreign factories – particularly those in China – are subject to significantly stricter scrutiny, and procedures are sometimes delayed or handled with great caution.
This situation affects not only individual manufacturers but is currently a widespread issue in the market. For customers, this primarily means reduced planning certainty regarding the availability and delivery dates of BIS-certified power cables.
Current status as of 12 May 2026
Unfortunately, the assessment of a further alternative solution in Asia has not led to the hoped-for long-term prospects. As things stand, no reliable extension of certification is to be expected there either. At the same time, we are currently in contact with an Indian manufacturer and are exploring a possible collaboration. The aim is to establish a robust manufacturing solution directly in India, thereby creating better long-term prospects for BIS-certified power cables. As discussions and assessments are still at an early stage, no binding statements can currently be made regarding availability, delivery dates or specific products.
