⚠️ Current information on BIS certification for India

Status: July 2025

Due to recent political developments between India and China, the Indian government has suspended the renewal of BIS certificates for almost all Chinese manufacturers. This measure particularly affects the production of power cords and power supplies.

According to consistent industry reports, no BIS certificates for Chinese manufacturers have been renewed over the past 18 months. As soon as a certificate expires, its status on the official BIS website is changed from “valid” to “suspended.” As a result, the affected factories are no longer considered actively certified, but rather previously approved manufacturers on standby.

The BIS certificate of our manufacturing partner expired on July 18, 2025.

What does this mean for our customers?

  • Products manufactured in China with an expired BIS certificate may officially no longer be imported into India as separate items.
  • If a power cord is exported as part of a complete device (e.g., dryer, PC), import may still be possible in some cases – depending on the specific case and the local authorities.
  • All cables currently in our stock were produced before the respective certificates expired and continue to meet all previous safety requirements from a technical standpoint.

What we can do for you

We are in close contact with our manufacturing partners and are monitoring the situation very closely. In parallel with the pending renewal of BIS approvals for Chinese plants, we are actively pursuing an alternative BIS certification in Vietnam. Production has already started; approval by the Indian authorities is – according to the current plan – expected toward the end of 2025.

For the interim period, we are evaluating various short-term options to continue ensuring a reliable supply of BIS-compliant power cords. Our goal is to avoid potential supply bottlenecks and to provide our customers with a stable supply.

This page is updated regularly. We will keep you informed here about new developments and available alternatives.
